Blue Bell scoops up land for Ashland facility
With an outlet mall and Harley Davidson dealer on the way, a massive Hanover County development site has landed another sweet tenant. Blue Bell Creameries, maker of the popular Blue Bell Ice Cream brand, recently bought 2.4 acres of land at Northlake Park near Ashland where it will build a giant ice cream facility expected to open next year. read more>

Billboard lawsuit claims county is playing favorites
A battle over a billboard and its potentially lucrative ad revenue has pitted a local RV dealer against Hanover County. Ed McGeorge, whose company EMAC LLC owns more than 23 acres at his McGeorge’s Rolling Hills RV Supercenter near Ashland, is suing the county and its board of supervisors for potential damages of nearly $7 million. read more>

Richmond Harley-Davidson will relocate into new $6.5 million dealership
Richmond Harley-Davidson, a franchised dealership for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, will relocate its Route 1 dealership in Hanover County into a new, 52,000-square-foot facility at Northlake Park. The company said Wednesday that it plans to invest more than $6.5 million in a building will allow for an increase in bike inventory, parts, apparel and service. read more>

Another big bite on Hanover County’s line
Things are hopping in Hanover County. The Commonwealth of Virginia has inked a deal for 14.5 acres near the intersection of Lewistown Road and Lakeridge Parkway just off Interstate 95, the second big land deal in that section of Ashland in the past two weeks. The state is planning to build a 45,000-square-foot headquarters there for the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. The project, just up the road from Bass Pro Shops and the Winding Brook development, is expected to cost about $10 million. read more>

Massive outlet mall is no fish story 2013
Outlet shopping in Richmond just got one step closer to reality. A California-based developer this week purchased 43 acres near Bass Pro Shops and the Winding Brook development in Ashland, where it plans a 392,000-square-foot outlet mall. Craig Realty Group bought the land at the northeast corner of the intersection of Lewistown Road and Lakeridge Parkway just off Interstate 95 from local developer Gibson Wright for an undisclosed price. read more>
